The Brief Presentations (BP) track provides researchers with an opportunity to present their ongoing work and/or introduce work published in journals or elsewhere that is relevant to the real-time systems community. Specifically, the RTSS’22 BP track will feature the following two types of submissions:
- Work-in-Progress (WiP) papers, and
- Work-already-Published (WaP), a.k.a. Journals-never-Presented, papers
The BP track inherits the scope of technical areas from RTSS 2022.
The BP track will be held during the main conference.
At least one author of every accepted paper (WiP and WaP) must
- Be registered for the conference,
- Present the work in the RTSS’22 BP session, and
- Showcase a poster of the work.
In case the conference is in the hybrid form and the authors of a BP paper cannot attend physically, the third item (having a poster) is not mandatory.
Work-in-Progress (WiP) Papers
WiP submissions should focus on ongoing, unpublished work discussing evolving and early-stage ideas, new research directions, and current trends in the area. Submissions will be accepted based on their originality, quality, significance, and relevance to RTSS. WiP submissions should be in the form of short papers of up to 4 pages.
Accepted WiP papers will be included in the main RTSS proceedings (published by IEEE).
Work-already-Published (WaP) Papers
WaP submissions should be an extended abstract of at most 2 pages of a previously published paper explaining relevance to RTSS and clearly citing the work being summarized. The intention of WaP presentations in the BP session is to raise awareness of work published elsewhere that might not be widely known to RTSS attendees and to highlight work in the real-time systems community that has recently appeared in journals without having been previously presented at a conference.
To be eligible to be presented as a WaP, a paper must be recent and have been published in a journal on real-time systems and not previously presented at a conference.
Accepted WaP papers will not appear in any printed form at the conference since they are already published.

Submission Instructions
- A WiP submission must be at most 4 pages (including all references and appendices) describing original on-going work. Please include Work-in-Progress in the title, i.e., “Work-in-Progress: Title of Paper”.
- A WaP submission must be at most 2 pages extended abstract and must clearly point to the original already-published work of the authors. Please include Work-already-Published in the title, i.e., “Work-already-Published: Title of Paper”.
Each paper (WiP/WaP) should be submitted in a single PDF document formatted as single-space, double-column, in a 10-point font (i.e., in the normal IEEE format also used for the main conference).

The length of the submitted paper should not exceed the page limit including all references and appendices – submissions exceeding the page limits will not be reviewed.
Each paper should indicate the name of the author(s) clearly on the first page.
